Here’s your daily stimulus check, your second stimulus check, your executive action, order, memorandums, moratoriums and stimulus package update for Thursday, October 15th, 2020.

Representative Frank Pallone Jr., chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has recently expressed his thoughts on where the funds should be spent in the upcoming Phase 4 disaster relief bill.

He explained: “This is a battle not just about funding but what you’re going to do with the money.”

Pallone continued: “If you don’t spend the money to crush the virus, if you don’t have a national plan to achieve this, then the money doesn’t even matter.”

With an emphasis on stimulus funds for testing, Pallone believes that the President’s actions could get in the way of getting real help to the people that need it.

He stated: “Trump has no plan and he continues to say the virus will disappear on its own and everybody will be tested, which is not true.”

I agree that we definitely need more money for testing, to make sure that we can crush that thing out there for good.

Meanwhile, talks are continuing between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin later today, with negotiations moving at a snail's pace.

Fortunately, it seems like Steve Mnuchin could be willing to give a little ground when it comes to a particular stimulus item.

As I explained in the last story, the topic that Mnuchin is willing to concede on is testing to help millions of Americans stay safe.

He stated earlier today: “When I speak to Pelosi today, I’m going to tell her that we’re not going to let the testing issue stand in the way. We’ll fundamentally agree with their testing language subject to some minor issues. This issue is being overblown.”

This is great news, as every concession or middle ground gained is one step closer to a completed bipartisan stimulus package.

Finally, President Trump offered his thoughts today on a stimulus package with a price tag of over $ trillion.

When asked on Fox Business today if he would go above $ trillion on a Phase 4 disaster relief bill, Trump said: "I would. Absolutely I would. I would say more. I would go higher. Go big or go home, I said it yesterday."

Trump also used the appearance to blame the Democrats, explaining: “Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want to give anything. She thinks it helps her with the election. And I don’t think so. I think it hurts her with the election because everyone knows she’s holding it up. We’re not holding it up. She’s holding it up.”

But even his own right hand man, Steven Mnuchin, was not exempt from a Trump roasting.

Trump took a jab at Mnuchin, stating: “So far he hasn’t come home with the bacon.”

I just hope that talks pick up today between the two sides, and that everyone can stop playing political games and get us the stimulus funds we need right now.
